Adoption Disruption
Disruptive adoption is where a child moves from one family and comes into another one.
Adoption disruptions can happen one day, one year, or five years after the adoption. There is no
limit as to when it could happen. They have become more common for parents who have
adopted children from Romania, Russia, and Eastern countries. The children who come from
those countries have lived in multiple foster homes for a long time. If parents do have an
adoption disruption they are still allowed to adopt other children.
In 2010, a three year old Russian boy died in Texas and a ten year old boy was sent back
illegally to Russia by his adoptive mother. The eight year old boy, Artyem Saveliev according to his adoptive mother, Torry Hansen turned out to be “violent and a threat to people around him.” Torry Hansen put him on a plane back to Moscow where he will be returning to the same
orphanage where he came from. (CNN.com)
